re: #171 MandyManners

Something just occurred to me about my conservative nature. I went ape-shit crazy tonight about the thousands of dollars our elected servants have spent on bottled water. It’s a waste of resources, both physical and financial.

In Pelosi’s office alone, we spent $2,740.00 for those bottles of water in three months. It’s not as if visiting dignitaries and constituents used up all those bottles. The House members and their staff likely were the main consumers.

Given the chance, I—and I suspect many here—could figure out a way to reduce this bit of waste.

I worry much more about waste due to military contracts for equipment and weaponry and kooky projects that will never see the light of day than I do about bottled water. Pelosi could buy a truckload of Evian every day, it would never touch the military-industrial complex. Bottled water and flowers are a grain of sand on the beach.

(and anyone who likes can go ahead and dowding me a million times, I’m not anti-military, I’m anti-military waste)
