I grew up sitting three feet in front of a 1963-model color TV set, the ones that spewed radiation.

I would not subject my kids to that, but I understand about letting kids run around and get dirty and dinged up. Any normal healthy kid should not be able to get through a summer without being covered in scratches and bruises.
