A rare but mild scolding of Greenwald on the Dkos front page
Glenn Greenwald’s blind spot on racism and sexism

From that post:

From Glenn Greenwald (0+ / 0-)
Hi Armando - As you know, I respect your work as well, but my views have not been fairly or accurately represented here at all.

Here are 2 statements, both of which I agree with:

(1) Anti-semitism is a serious problem, and some opposition to Israel is motivated by anti-semitism.

(2) Neocons cynically exploit accusations of antisemitism to discredit legitimate, fair-minded critics of Israel.

To assert (2) is not to negate (1). I believe both. Similarly:

(1) Racism is a serious problem, and some opposition to Obama is motivated by racism.

(2) Some Democrats cynically exploit accusations of racism to discredit legitimate, fair-minded critics of Obama.

To assert (2) is not to negate (1). I believe both. Similarly:

(1) Sexism is a serious problem, and some opposition to Hillary Clinton will be motivated by sexism.

(2) Some Democrats will cynically exploit accusations of sexism to discredit legitimate, fair-minded critics of Hillary Clinton.

To assert (2) is not to negate (1).

Your entire post is based on a logical fallacy: that because I asserted (2) (“Opposition to her is going to be depicted as misogynistic, like opposition to Obama has been depicted as racist”) then it must mean that I believe none of the opposition to Obama and Clinton are based on racism and sexism.

I’m well aware that some opposition to Obama and Clinton are motivated by those things and nothing I said suggested otherwise. I’ll grant that it could have been stated more clearly - this was an oral interview over many days, not a carefully written essay - but I think the meaning is nonetheless clear.

Who the hell knows if it is him or not, I don’t think it is condescending enough to be him.
