Something to keep in mind when we see RWNJs propose arming teachers, “hardening” schools or, craziest of all, posting armed NRA members at the schools: The real objective of the radical right is not to protect public schools but to destroy them.

If a shooting ever happens at a church or private school, one wonders if their reaction would be any different.

Adding more (unarmed) teachers, reducing class sizes, and boosting public school budgets would not only improve education but could conceivably reduce the number of kids who feel isolated and out of place in public schools, thereby reducing the chances of school shootings by students. But that’s the rational response, so it won’t happen.
