He may not have expected the actual statement at that party to get out, but his whole basis of his campaign reeked of disdain for the lower economic half of the electorate.

I’m not questioning that, I’m just saying that the line possible wouldn’t have represented self-sabotage, given that he didn’t expect it to get out.

Mitt Romney’s “47%” remarks were indefensible. I said so at the time, and I maintain that position. This line is being added to #37 for clarity.
