(To be fair all risk management, even erection of a Stop sign, involves valuation of human life.)

Of course it does. A key difference, though, is whether the decision is democratic (stop signs are installed by local governments) or non-democratic (BP makes money for wealthy shareholders).

Health care, especially end-of-life care, is all about deciding on the appropriate cost of human life. It’s not something we can be too squeamish about, and nor should we abandon the decisions to corporations.
