Authorities in the United Arab Emirates are probing five U.S.-issued credit-card accounts, which officials say were used by five of the 11 suspects in last month’s killing of a Hamas leader in Dubai, according to a person familiar with the situation.

It’s an odd thing, this whole Dubai deal.

The story seems to suggest, if nothing else, that even Dubai isn’t immune to the wild, zig-zag path of speculation that marks so much of the mindset of the authoritarian Arab world.

It was Mossad.
It was Fatah.
It was Mossad & Fatah.
It was Mossad & Fatah with US help.

They’ve got a bunch a video frames, some cell phone records, and a whole lotta speculation, but not much else.
