So leveraging had nothing to do with it? The rollback of glass-steagall and the banks merry games for a decade or so weren’t involved? Senator Gramm and Clinton? It was the poor people who brought the world economy to its knees?
The epidemic of extremely risky loans, which never would have happened on its own, along with repackaging of them and grossly obfuscating the risks, played a very large role, yes.
