Maybe he is just doing a disappearing act because he got himself way more into a mess than he ever expected by signing a letter. He could be so far in over his head that clamming up and trying to get it all to go away is all he can think to do right now.

That is a typical human response. I don’t know his character so I think it hard to say he would do what he should do.

We are just watching and we don’t have our butts in the fire. It’s real easy to think clearly in our positions…not so much in his.

I accept your premise. Still, Art, I am reacting to people feeling sympathy for this person. He is not some innocent middle school teacher. He is a grown adult who foolishly endorsed someone he didn’t really know, and we all have know for a while about these credible accusations. I don’t find it believable that he isn’t paying attention to what is going on with a high school friend that he endorsed. Unbelievable. And before he was potentially set up as a potential rapist, he had time to go “you know, that letter I signed, not such a good idea. I’m going to retract that”. Now, if he chooses not to do that, or doesn’t know how to do that, so be it but don’t pull out the tiny violins. He fucked himself. Sure, get a lawyer, all that good stuff. My sympathy meter reads “Zero” and I don’t care how much shitstorm he gets. Not my problem.
