Most of the time, they claim to have read the words but never really did. They just signed on for some of that old-time religion because it’s what everybody around them does, not because they’re genuinely trying to follow the beliefs.

I know. I attend a tiny church in the middle of flyover. We do the best we can with what little we have. Then I turn on a TV and I see rich asshats calling themselves Christians but pissing on the backs of the poor and telling them it is raining. And then I see decent people who actually are doing good calling themselves atheists.

I find it very easy to understand how Atheism has become one of the most holy paths in modern America.
