re: #400 Kragar

Always nice when your team lead just says “Fuck it, we’re not doing this bullshit anymore” when you’re looking at 2 days worth of make-work no one cares about.

We had an “improved reporting system” brought in about a year ago, where we had to pull duplicate data to import into its system, but after a few weeks, pretty much everyone stopped using it because it was a pain in the ass to use and we had simpler, more efficient methods everyone knew. Technically, the new system is still in place, we’re just not going to use it anymore.

Sounds like a standard top-down implementation where the system was not properly vetted, given an executive sponsor, and not tested and documented using the folk who were expected to use it - along with feedback on what the issues with implementing it was going to be.

And of course there will be no push back against the bottom-liner who got the expense budgeted for the system without doing the necessary work that had to go along with the idea.
