What about the areas who get their electricity from Nuclear power plants, wind farms, etc? I would think the CF lights would generate more mercury in the water tables, not less.

Tell you what when I see people getting equally upset at all the toxic materials (like mercury) in the oodles of electronic equipment like computers and cellphones that people use and dump like they’re nothing and account for the highest percentage of toxic waste in landfills I’ll get get excited about light bulbs.

E-waste and toxic materials is way more of an issue in terms of percentages and amounts then light bulbs.
