Back in my 20s I was a libertarian until I realized that I wasn’t a misanthrope, and that professional libertarians were mostly full of shit on economic issues.

My favorite story is of a friend who was group up “liberterian” right up until the point that he met some actual organized libertarians and the following conversation occurred.

Friend: (On the subject of a liberterian reading list) Yeah most of the stuff on here is pretty good, but why don’t you have The Jungle?
