But I think the ones who disappear over “Reuters articles” do it because they disagree with the management here, so they don’t want to stay and argue their true beliefs. (That’s what the “Hmmm” stood in for.) I wish they would stay and hash things out. Everyone is capable of changing his or her mind, and that possibility is what makes political discussion worth while.

The first part is absolutely correct (at least for me, and arguably for someone else). The second part is less so :p
