Well, Empire cemented Darth Vader as a classic movie villain; something of a cosmic bad-ass (a bit overconfident however). Lucas then spent four movies doing a thorough character assassination.

I could live with that, I really could, if he’d just stop making the movies worse with all the “new & improved” versions. I want a copy of Star Wars as I had it on VHS back when it was first released not the current version.
