Stupidest GM car EVER: The Cadillac Cimmaron (also marketed as the Catera)
Basically your Chevy Cavalier with some fancy interior/exterior trim and a Cadillac nameplate.
The Cimarron and the Catera were two distinctly different cars: the Cimarron, as you say, was basically a mid-to-late-80s Cavalier with Caddy trim, but the 1997-2001 Catera was a rebadge/retrim of the German-built Opel Omega.
Same concept, different platforms, different times, same results; Americans didn’t really cotton to a foreign-built mid-size Caddy, even though, from what I heard, it was fairly well-built.
