re: #395 Aceofwhat?

sorry, i’m being flippant…sorta posting lightly and watching basketball at the same time. i’ll focus for a sec.

IIRC, in the OECD the five countries with the least govt-to-private spending ratio (excluding the US) and the five countries with the most govt-to-private spending have a nearly identical cost as a % of GDP.

Govt involvement is not the missing link between better outcomes per dollar and where we are today.

I certainly agree that we spend way too much. Reform is necessary, but not necessarily synonymous with govt takeover.

Sorry if i was unnecessarily snarky.

I’m not in love with any particular answer to the problem. I just want to see us adopt a system that gets rid of the whole “pre-existing condition” problem and gets people decent health care.

I have a particular interest in the pre-existing condition issue because I went through that (my wife had breast cancer) and saw for myself how the availability of health insurance ended up running our lives. Treatment for that is incredibly expensive. Not having insurance was not an option. So we were basically chained to my then-employer because we wouldn’t have had coverage for her if I had changed employers.

Whoever fixes that is my guy. I don’t give a shit about party or ideology. Just fix it.
