It’d be nice if the people bitching about the Colorado recall just admitted one thing, that in a purely pragmatic analysis Bloomberg’s ego and the push for gun control fucked over a lot of people. I’m not seeing much of that.

In the single issue freakout that followed Aurora and Newtown only a few voices dared raise the issues of finite political capital and the historical backlash generated by each new set of gun regs.

Angela Giron’s replacement is a paleolithic, anti abortion bigot who opposes gay marriage because “words have meaning,” and who plans to gut the tax base and fuck over the education system by expanding vouchers. All issues diametrically opposed by Giron.

John Morse’s recall opponent, Bernie Herpin:

Council campaign literature has him staunchly opposed to gay marriage, abortion rights, ‘entitlement’ programs and gun control.

If you want to whine about what happened, fine. If you want to rail against the state of American politics and have a grand old bitch-fest, then by all means indulge yourselves and get it out of your systems.

What you shouldn’t do is forget or go back into denial, then fuck us all over again in another couple of years. Take a good long look in the mirror and own this shit.
