Food Network has The Next Iron Chef: Superstars running right now (it started yesterday). It’s already shaping up to be an epic series.

That’s right, I missed that last night.

There’s basically three cooking shows I follow on/off and generally ignoring the rest:
Iron Chef - varies in quality. You can get some real good competitions, and some real interesting special ingredients. But the cooking level, techniques, and equipment are generally over my head. I rarely cook for groups and don’t have a lot of room to do cooking in.

Good Eats - Alton Brown is a cooking education. I learn a lot about ingredients, preparation, and some interesting food items to try eating and/or cooking.

Chopped - Another competition show, but one that purposefully tosses weird ingredient combinations at competitors. These vary in quality like Iron Chef does. And I dislike the personalities of some of the judges a great deal. (I think one is on the Iron Chef - Superstars mentioned above). Like Iron Chef this one doesn’t really lend itself to improving my cooking education.
