I get where your frustration comes from; however, my late mother grew up Southern, white, and poor as hell — and the phrase “white trash” was as painful and humiliating to her as any non-white racial slur. I’d love for that phrase to be just dropped from discourse.

I prefer the phrase, “willfully ignorant redneck swine”, to describe the group to which you refer.
