I remember the first time one of our guys fired a Javelin during a large scale live fire exercise. The initial launch motor wasn’t all that loud (as heard in the video) but when the flight motor kicked in everyone froze in their tracks, stopped shooting, and looked up at the missile. And I’m pretty sure I wasn’t the only one to mutter “holy shit”

There is footage out there of a launch that sent the missile about 8 feet downrange, then flopping onto the ground in front of the team.
