They are not. But ignorance is a simple thing cured by simple learning. A man like Santorum has likely had many opportunities to learn.

Children are ignorant of many things. Remote tribes are ignorant of modern gov’t and technology. This does not mean they are evil, or lesser, or craven, or stupid. It simply means they are ignorant.

I refuse to give Santorum the courtesy of calling him ignorant. He is craven and backwards. He is worse than ignorant.

Being ignorant vs. being backwards sounds like a distinction without a difference. Santorum seems to have purposely chosen not to learn anything about the issue in order to remain blissfully ignorant and filled with hate. No doubt you’re correct that he’s a craven panderer, but so is Romney (just with less vitriol).
