re: #425 Targetpractice
Trump’s time in office should pretty much shoot that mantra in the head, but it won’t. Instead, we’re gonna get “Oh, well, we need a ‘succesful’ businessman” or “Well, we need a different businessman.”
I found myself realizing the other day it was like if people had gotten their wish and Ross Perot had won in ‘92. There was every indication that the man was a nut who had no clue had to run the government, but he was a “successful businessman,” so people were conned into believing that meant “smart guy.” If he’d run on the GOP ticket, we might very well be lamenting the years lost to the “Perot administration.”
Perot at least had the decency to have his meltdown during the campaign, rather than once in office. That’s another book, I need to read, is there a definitive history of Perot’s 1992 campaign? Because the wikipedia entry makes it sound amazing.
