That to me is a rational, reasonable way to use a firearm. If everyone was capable of that I could see myself supporting CC. But as Rogue pointed out, the suspect in question was legally carrying. I doubt he’d be able to go through that processes the same way you or I could.

He was under the influence. Even with a good policy, sometimes people fall through the cracks. Concealed Carry saves many more lives than it costs, and that makes it good in my eyes.
