…”children running the country.”? That’s very much the problem. There is a dangerous tendency in Obama to engage in childlike magical thinking. He wants to pretend the last 100 years of US-Russia relations didn’t exist? We can be sure, Putin is well aware of that history and Russia’s interests.

I think the Russians have big plans. They have huge oil and gas reserves and will use them to exert their power over their neighbors. They look for ways to trip up their ‘business partners’ in the oil and gas business so they have excuses to kick them out. The idea that handing them a piece of plastic will smooth relations and engage the esprit de corp is ridiculous. They aren’t playing checkers, they are playing chess.
