I think Frank has a good point. I even think Clarence Thomas, incredibly weirdo that he is, might on this point rule that any bill passed by congress that set a debt limit was unconstitutional. He’s a weirdo, but when stuff is really clear in the constitution— and it’s very clear that US debts must be paid— I think he might rule the right way.
But anyway, I really doubt that Roberts wants his legacy to be “crushed America’s economy and put the US into default”.
