I appear to be the exception to the rule that everyone must love “Forrest Gump”. I found it to be an extremely annoying pean to the virtues of ignorance. YMMV.

It’s not one of my favorite movies but it’s not about the virtues of ignorance. It’s about the simplicity of life. It is pretty simple to do what the moment requires. If it was a foreign film with subtitles set in rural China intellectuals would hail it as a Zen masterpiece. It’s American, it’s sappy but it’s not a bad movie.
