It’s actually because of the oil and natural gas boom going on out there. Hard to get someone to work at walmart for $7 an hour when someone with no experience can get a job with one of the drilling companies starting at 60K a year. That’s why rent is so expensive out there too. They weren’t ready for the influx and companies are putting workers up in trailers and stuff. Even the fast food companies are paying north of $15/hr for entry level.
