I realized that ‘The Bubble’, which is about a Jewish guy from Tel Aviv and a Palestinian guy from Nablus who fall in love, was not going to have a HAPPY ending, but I would have settled for ‘they’re apart, but safe, and the future will be better’.
I cried my eyes out. The only thing worse than Israeli films for sad endings is gay Israeli films.
(OK, “Ushpizin” had a happy ending.)
(Actually “The Syrian Bride” wasn’t all THAT bad an ending.)
