I for one will be really, REALLY disappointed if they go the “He’s been in the hospital dying of cancer and the whole thing never really happened” route, where Gus Fring is one of his doctors and Saul Goodman is actually Walter’s nurse and Jesse is just some kid in the next hospital bed over.

I mean in this case, given the fact he WAS diagnosed with cancer that kind of a “dream” ending would at least be somewhat plausible but I still think it would be the wrong way to go.

It would be a serious cop-out, but as I’ve found as the years go on, Hollywood these days is creatively bankrupt. If there’s a way to end the series that’s cliched as hell, they’ll take it.

There’s the odd exception where they try something new, and it’s generally never repeated because the fandom simply throws a shitfit instead. See the end to The Sopranos for an example of what I mean.
