The Republican strategist behind the smear campaign of MO state auditor Tom Schweick, found dead of suicide last month, is still flourishing by moving from MO to TX as the chief political strategist for Ted Cruz. And Sunday the media director for Schweick was also found a suicide. And Missouri Republican Party Chairman John Hancock, who evidently started the whisper campaign, refuses to step down.

Rachel Maddow had a great story on it last night: msnbc.com

The Republican Party has become so unethical, so corrupt and venal, it’s a wonder it can run any campaign these days, but that appears where they’re most successful, first against Democrats and now within their own party.

Mostly they’re doing so by spreading fear, lies, and insinuations, but they also have power and money. What are they really doing to this country? That’s what I fear most—and some people are merely lapping it up without paying any attention to what they’re being fed.

This, and laws like the “religious freedom” law in Indiana should be waking up more people than those already against it. There’s a lot of work ahead. Is the country really prepared for this kind of fight? Can we isolate that kind of thinking and change it?
