The plantation house slaves analogy is ugly and unnecessary, and not even a good analogy.

I wouldn’t blame any gay person for not supporting the Democrats if they decide ethics takes precedence over practicality, but in all practical reality gay rights will increase in proportion to Democrats getting national influence. I say national, because a dirty not so secret is that, especially in the South, it’s fine for Democrats to be anti-gay too.

I think that the speed with with the military has adopted to post-DADT shows that Obama has committed at least a lot of thought to his slow-and-steady approach, even if I think he could have been a lot more aggressive.

Any way, heckling his wife isn’t going to make him go “You know, I really should move faster on gay rights”.
