Education has to get at the root ideas: the fact that processed, high-fructose corn syrup sweetner is not really food, it is much more of a drug and a major source of health problems when consumed in anything but moderate doses.

Sure, but what I’m saying is that education is in competition with miseducation in the form of advertising.

And we need to explain that the concept of modern agriculture has little to do with the happy farmer loading his truck with vegetables and driving them to market. That is the image I was raised with.

I don’t think most people really give a shit either way about that.

And education should not shy away from using the same techniques that advertising uses, just based on facts, not suppositions and preconceived notions.

I’m good with that, but that takes us until a whole new territory in education.
