I appear to be the exception to the rule that everyone must love “Forrest Gump”. I found it to be an extremely annoying pean to the virtues of ignorance. YMMV.

That’s mostly because, in adapting the novel to film, they aimed for family film territory, which means a lot of the grittier and darker portions of the novel had to get cut out.
