More likely, it will be as Matan Vilnai was quoted as saying. Israel will put it off as long as possible and only then make a serious effort to pound Hamas. When that happens, the Israelis will be pilloried in the Western media for whatever they do. Remember, the last time this happened, Israel received no credit for the fact that, at risk to its own soldiers and military objectives, it essentially called a daily siesta to facilitate the transfer of humanitarian supplies to the Gaza Strip.
