Does this category of voter really still exist these days? For example, it’s pretty clear that ‘economic anxiety’ isn’t really a driver for the Trump campaign.

At some point people have to accept the responsibility for their actions, including the fact that voting for bigots and haters is a bigoted and hateful thing to do.

I think it does. Whether it is the majority or not, I have heard a lot of interviews with people who truly just seem to have nonspecific anxiety about the world at large.

As I said, I think we can afford to be gracious with people over their loss. This does not mean we have to agree, compromise, give them an inch or anything else. For the most part rubbing people’s faces in the dirt does not convince them they are wrong.
Graciousness does not imply that they are right, or that we quit working for social justice.
