OT, related

Germany’s SIEMENS Corp. is assisting Iran’s mullacracy to monitor the protesters and HUNT protesters down.

Thanks for nothing, German geniuses at Siemens, hope Iranian kids remember your perfidy.

That’s stretching things a bit. Siemans has sold, in the past, network telecommunication switching and routing equipment to Iran (and many countries the world over).

All routers and network switches have the ability to “sniff” the packets of information moving through them. And any telecommunication company, private of state owned, can write custom software to do what ever they want with the data packets moving through their equipment. They can look at the packets, drop the packets, trace the packets and so on.

You could do this if you purchase ANY telecommunication switch and set up you own network. It’s the nature of the hardware.

Siemans is not doing anything, or building any hardware that allows Iran to do anything unique with the equipment.

I worked for a small telecommunication firm for 6 months setting up a tier one network support team. You would be amazed what you can do with the data, with ordinary off the shelf hardware, hardware that is generic to the industry.

This is not an issue.
