I agree it’s necessary if we want a good future, but I don’t see it happening as long as the masses are easily manipulated by the wealthy. It would take mass-starvation to turn the rubes against their masters, and they might just blame liberals until they die.

If current trends in automation and globalization continue, we’re looking at half or more of the US being unemployable in a few decades as being surplus labor. That’s going to require fundamental changes to society, because the Republican solution of all wealth to the already rich and mass graves for “useless eaters” is completely unacceptable.
