Bottom end stuff is what Lowe’s specializes in. Not a shot at Lowe’s at all, it is their market. Hell, I’ve bought buttloads of stuff from them.

But, they’ll sell 1 ES rated roofing shingle for every 1000 regular cheapo shingles they sell…

It is what their customers want.

Here’s a Lowe’s story you’ll like (they lost).

I wanted a new countertop in my kitchen. Not granite, but the engineered stone that doesn’t need to be sealed every year.

Lowes: take your own measurements, use our online calculator to figure the price, then come into the store and put down 1/2 the cost and we’ll talk to you about your concerns. Oh, and we can’t install on top of the old countertop or backsplash, you’ll have to remove it all (and since the backsplash was also the wall, install new wall board before we can install the new counter and backsplash, and since the counter on the stove island had to be a certain height to fit just under the stovetop, remove the old countertop and install a plain wood platform for the countertop to rest on).

The local installation place: We’ll send someone out right away to take measurements and give you an estimate, talk to you about your special needs and your concerns. Sure - we can install over the old backsplash. Sure, we can leave the stove island counter in place and install on the top of it! Oh and here’s our price - $1000 lower than the Lowe’s estimate.
