Always keep a few cans of Tuna Fish/Spam/Soup on hand for emergencies.

MRE’s are also another option. Not the worlds best food, but they will keep you alive.

I have, tucked in a couple of out-of-sight locations, some pemmican. Made right it’s got ‘shelf life’ of years. (completely dry the meat. tallow, not suet. If using dried fruit, chop fine. Pack so critters can’t get it.) It isn’t tasty. Not bad, but not something I want to snack upon. Still better than most MREs I’ve had.
