Gaffney has “lost the plot” as the British say.

Obama’s religious convictions are a completely separate issue. He looks to me like he’s faking it for political purposes.

I read Gaffney as Charles has: Gaffney is making a point about Obama’s alleged religious convictions: he’s claiming that “there is mounting evidence” that Obama is a Muslim.

In this kind of climate it makes sense to me that Obama would have to emphasise or play up his Christianity. So while we’d agree that he’s doing so for political purposes, I don’t consider it especially surprising.

I personally don’t find it that offensive, although that obviously is a matter of opinion and people can disagree on it.
