I kind of have a hard time parsing that one as well. I can’t see any mental/emotional justification for homophobia based on secular reasoning. The only justification for it on the religious side is cherry picking the OT.

I must concede that I phrased what I meant horribly. I won’t be surprised at all if he’s religiously inspired but what my point is that there are a lot of people who use non-religious rationale for their hatred of gays. In fact, a lot of people think the religious rationale for hating gays isn’t religious at all but the personal discomfort of the cleric with homosexuality. It’s kind of like how it’s absurd for the right to defend anti-gay bullying as “religious freedom.”
