Correct, there are, but as Sergey said in his #135, “Vulgarity for the sake of vulgarity doesn’t help though.” Some of the cartoons were just plain vulgar, unnecessarily so. I found many of them disgusting—not just the ones about Muslims, but the ones about other religions too.

I mean seriously, what’s the point, just to offend? Because that’s all most people belonging to those (religious) groups are going to see—any other message will be completely lost. If the point is to educate or communicate, then they’re doing it wrong. I’m not sure when needless vulgarity began being perceived as brave truth-telling, but I don’t buy it.

Free speech is not always effective speech, is not always wise speech, and is very often not well-mannered speech. Fumbling that can get you killed in Paris, France and Paris, TX.
