Yes, but ignoring the translation issues, far too many people read the Good Samaritan story, or the Parable of the Laborers, or the eye of the needle message, or carry the load for two miles, and somehow get nothing out of them.
Even when they don’t get the metaphors, they flat out refuse the plain and simple teaching: “for I was hungry, and you gave me food to eat. I was thirsty, and you gave me drink. I was a stranger, and you took me in. I was naked, and you clothed me. I was sick, and you visited me. I was in prison, and you came to me.”
It doesn’t get any simpler than that and most utterly ignore it.
