I’m okay with charter schools as long as there’s some oversight.

But underachieving schools often underachieve for reasons that have zero to do with the teachers, and tying it to test scores doesn’t work. It’s not a problem that can be solved bluntly. Class sizes, single/unattentive parents, lack of money, lack of relevant programs, all this stuff matters.

What’s wrong with closing underachieving schools? The administration has even suggested it.
