Exactly. I’m sure the AAPOS has permission to use the image, but simply linking to them isn’t attribution, nor does it relieve you of the responsibility to get permission. There’s “fair use”, but I hardly think this qualifies.

These people aren’t only sleazy, they’re also sloppy in their rush to push their propaganda. I hope it catches up with them one day.

The image did not originate at AAPOS, it’s from a University of Iowa study and textbook (I think it was Kragar or Lawhawk who found that link when we first started discussing this a few days ago; I remember klys was the first to find the AAPOS link).
