I dunno, Hair Metal always struck me as the triumph of style over any discernable talent.

Some good, some bad.

Crue, GNR and Bon Jovi each had one incredible album. Poison and Ratt had decent runs, and LA Guns had one great album. Everything else was fair to middling.

You could probably say about the same for any style of music over a similar period of time.
