re: #42 Obdicut

Well, they’re not sympatico with the Tea Party movement— because that movement doesn’t actually represent anything. They’re incoherent, and where they are coherent, they’re an astroturfed arch-conservative group.

They’re sympatico with the idea that the government has been failing them consistently for some time, which is true— but the Tea Party movement doesn’t actually represent any solution or even legitimate criticism to that fact.

I would agree with that in the sense that a lot of people are looking for a place to hang their fiscal conservative hat and the Tea (Taxed Enough Already) Party movement is the movement that has a high enough profile to attract large numbers. There are certainly groups seeking to co-opt the message and power that comes with a constituency and they include bad people with bad agendas. As you said the movement is not quite coherent and time will tell if the heart and soul of the conservative movement will allow itself to be corrupted by racism and hate or if they will kick the bigots to the curb like the Democrats did towards the end of the civil rights movement.
