I actually don’t mind room temp. Guinness. I like it better cold, but unlike many other beers out there, it doesn’t get bad enough to gag a maggot at room temp.

The draft in a can or bottle really has to be served very cold, to get the full benefit of the widget. The extra stout becomes quite intolerable to me as the temperature rises above about 15 centigrade. When I was an undergraduate, there was even a Guinness XXX which was like extra stout with all the water turned into alcohol and several times more bitter. A friend of mine described it as “weasel’s piss strained through a mouldy old balaclava helmet”. Oddly enough, it tasted just like that.
