Yep, see Patton slapping the soldier which made him even more of an icon in wingnut lore. Not knocking Patton’s abilities as a general but as a human being, he was pretty shitty.
Personally, I never thought Patton was that great a general.
Must admit to prejudice though, Germany had people like Guderian and von Manstein and the Soviet Union people like Chuikov and Zhukov.
I’m afraid I regard most of the Western Allied generals as competent at best. I think Vandergrift and Collins were the best Americans. Montgomery (much as I dislike him, the glory hound) and Horrocks were the best Brits.
Just my opinion though.
